A proud Treaty 8 Nation in northern Alberta with deep roots along the Little Red River
Woodland Cree: Little Red River Cree Nation is a Treaty 8 signatory with traditional territory in northern Alberta. Our three communities of Garden River, John D'Or Prairie, and Fox Lake serve our vibrant population.
Treaty Status: We are a signatory to Treaty 8, signed in 1899. Chief Keenohayo represented our people during the treaty negotiations.
Population: Our Nation consists of over 5,200 registered members across our three communities.
Location: Located in northern Alberta near High Level, our territory encompasses the rich boreal forest and waterways of the Little Red River region.
Culture & Economy: We maintain our Cree language and traditions while pursuing economic opportunities through our Group of Companies, including forestry, construction, and resource development partnerships.
